THE BIG IS IN THE SMALL
THE BIG IS IN THE SMALL
The title I used is a statement credited to Pastor Sarah Omakwu and it talks about the power of doing little things and it is on this note, I want to talk to us on something very important.
I want to talk about TO DO LIST.
To begin with, what is a to do list?
It is simply a list that contains in a written form list of what we hope to do or tasks we want to achieve either on daily, weekly or monthly basis.
Now that you know what it means, let's move on...
I know that many of us have big goals that we are pursuing, but get frustrated when they are not achieved.
Base on our upbringing, we are wired to look at bigger things and motivational speakers have further made matter complicated by preaching messages on dreaming big, making it big and so on. Our society affirms this expectation by celebrating those who have made it big and they tend to look down at those who are still playing at a smaller level.
However, not all of us would have that opportunity to make it big. As a matter of fact, only very few would have that opportunity.
Does this mean that there is no hope for those starting small?
Well, there is. In fact, whatever level you find yourself, you can make it big and even become great.
Whatever level of greatness you desire to attain, you can start from the little choices you make and actions you take on a daily basis.
The easiest way is to start taking small deliberate actions in line with the great things you desire to accomplish. For instance, if you desire to make one million naira in a year, all you need to do is to saving ninety thousand naira monthly and at the end of the year, you would achieve your one million naira goal.
Breaking that big ambition or goal into smaller ones and adding it to your daily tasks would help you achieve it.
Everything is possible to achieve, if only you can break it into smaller bits and add it to your daily to do list.
If you want to lose weight, break it into bits and pursue it. If you want to build a business empire, break the process of achieving that into bits and pursue it though your daily to do list.
If you learn to break that big goal into smaller bits, you will realise that what is standing between you and that big achievement are those daily choices you make.
There are endless possibilities in having a to do list.
Thank you.
Simon O Matthew.
