Be Responsible
BE RESPONSIBLE
It is becoming a norm in our society to put blames on others for what is happening to us that is most times unpleasant. It is also a norm for the society to blame her leaders for what she is going through. Everywhere you turn to when something happens, you see people looking for who to blame for it.
However, for everything you see that has happened or is happening today in our lives, society and the world at large have our direct or indirect contributions to it.
I can see your reaction or the expression on your face right now reading this, but it is true.
What we have been doing over the years is to live in denial about this fact.
You are largely responsible for your life and how it turns out to be, whether positive or negative and not your parents or the society you live in.
As a citizen, if your country is not doing well, you are largely responsible for it and not the leadership. Your active participation or indifference is the reason why the country is the way it is. If you are not happy with how things are, do something about it.
Whatever endeavour you are involved in either as the head of such endeavour or just a member, if it fails, don't look for who to blame, blame yourself.
We need to learn to take responsibility for our lives and the society if we want to see any improvement or progress.
As a student, take responsibility for your studies by taking your lectures seriously and also taking advantage of technology to improve your studies.
As a mentee, the success of the mentorship program is totally in your hands and not in the hand of your mentors.
Even as a reader, how your life would turn out to be is in your hand and not in the book that you are reading. It is one thing for a writer to write a book, but it is totally in your hands to use what you have learnt from the book.
The reason why your life, the country and our endeavours is the way it is is because we have not been taking charge of things, but blame others.
It is a sign of maturity to take full responsibility for your actions and inactions.
Let's start taking responsibilities for things and situations and see how our lives would take a new and positive turn.
Please become responsible.
Thank you.
