Opinions
OPINIONS
Earlier today I asked a question on Facebook about whose opinion one would take either that of a business coach or that of a successful business person and the answers I got were amazing. Some went for that of a business coach, while majority went for that of a successful business person.
Going by the reasons behind their answers, both answers are correct.
Reasons...
That someone is successful doesn't automatically make them an authority in art of teaching principles of success in business. On the other hand, that someone knows all the theories on how to succeed in business does not make them an automatic authority to teach success in business.
Am I getting you confused? Calm down and follow me carefully.
Experience is one of the keys in business.
It is one thing to be taught how to do business and it is totally a different thing to put them into practice. What you were taught in business school or by a coach may not be totally applicable on the field. E.g someone who read about how to publish a book without publishing one him or herself may not know the challenges one may face when publishing and so may not be an authority in that regard.
Environment is also another key.
You may be taught in an environment where things like power supply, security and others work and trying to apply that same knowledge in an environment where things don't really work may not give you the desired results.
Luck or let's say favour is another factor.
I know when it comes to this, most coaches may not agree with me. However, favour or luck has a way of making one successful in an endeavour irrespective of what they do or don't do. The Almighty in His discretion or will may decide to bless someone due to their activities or work for Him.
There are several other factors, but let me stop here.
These are my take...
Getting knowledge from a business coach or school is very important as it will help you record success in record time, but before success can be recorded, knowledge must be put into use and that's where practice comes in.
Also, when seeking who to coach or mentor you, go for someone who have a successful business they are running as they will be in a better position to guide you. Business is beyond talk, it is actually GETTING BUSY with what you know.
Furthermore, go for customised coaching(meaning that, you should go for knowledge that is peculiar to you, your environment and the systems that is obtainable in it)
Lastly, in your seeking for knowledge that you can use, do not forget the place of your Creator, because all the successful persons I have seen or read about have the finger of the Almighty working in one way or the other working for them.
The end.
The above is written to help someone out there who is confused as to why they aren't successful despite all their efforts and also it is to serve as guide in this day where suddenly there is a rise in the number of business coaches and mentors without any record of success in the business they are running.
Thank you for responding to my questions and reading this.
I like to hear from you if this piece makes any sense to you or your criticisms.
